The station is also known as Notchropolis Library to prevent confusion with other libraries in the city.
Library and Central are the two original NotchRail stations, opening on 25 February 1992 as a trial service. The station is one of the remaining few with timber construction, as its heritage status prevents major redevelopment of the platforms.
