The Division of Ralph is a Craftian federal division in the state of Jagsland. It was created in 2028 and first contested at the federal election later that year. Its namesake is monarchy-era MP Jack Ralph (1800–1897), the first European Member of Parliament in Craftian history and civil rights activist who campaigned for constitutional reform, specifically to remove stringent citizenship laws. The division includes the outer suburbs of Pallsburg, Jagsland's capital and largest city.
The sitting member, since the 2061 federal election, is Kasie Lawhorn, a member of the National United Party.
History[]
The city of Pallsburg leans fairly left, owing to its status as Jagsland's only major urban centre. Ralph, like many suburban seats, is fairly marginal and a major battleground between the United Party and the Craftian Conservative Party. The seat is a 'mortgage belt' electorate, with a high concentration of families mortgaging their homes. As such, the seat swings easily between the left and right. It has acted as a somewhat reliable bellwether seat historically, but has generally trended slightly towards United in recent years due to an influx of younger families and the seat being downsized due to increasing population density.
