Coals Supermarkets (trading as simply Coals /'kɒlz/ kolz, pronounced like "Coles") is a Craftian supermarket chain owned by the Coals Group. Its chief competitors are Woolworths and Småmart. Coals is currently the largest supermarket chain in Craftia, with a market share of 34.3%, having overtaken Woolworths in 2072.
Founded in 1906, the company was historically a mining corporation known as Craftian National Coal Exports (nicknamed "Coals"). Coals evolved from a resource extraction and mining corporation into a mercantile retail business in the late 20th century before moving towards department stores, then eventually supermarkets in the 2010s.
